Milwaukee on the Cusp of History

Brewers 10 - 1 Rays

What happened?

Milwaukee went to Tampa Bay and absolutely dismantled the Rays 10-1. An 8-run fifth inning did the damage, and the Rays had no answer for any of it. The Brewers now lead the World Series 3-0 and are one win from their first-ever championship. Milwaukee’s pitching has been suffocating all series, a 2.03 ERA through the postseason. Game 3 wasn’t a contest. A sweep is coming.

Could the Rays come back?

It has happened once in MLB history. Once. The 2004 Red Sox came back from 3-0 down against the Yankees, and nobody has done it since. The Rays would need to win four straight against a Milwaukee team that has looked completely unbeatable for three games. Their pitching is locked in, their offense is clicking, and they are playing with the confidence of a team that knows exactly what it is doing. Could Tampa Bay pull off the greatest comeback in baseball history? Sure. Is it happening? No.

Is this the most boring World Series in recent memory?

Going into the series, most predicted a tight, low-scoring battle between two elite pitching staffs. Through three games, Milwaukee has outscored Tampa Bay 21-4. The Rays have looked nothing like the team that won 98 games this season. So no, it has not been a snooze-fest; it has just been completely one-sided, which in its own way is just as compelling. Watching a team dismantle a good opponent this convincingly at the biggest stage in baseball is worth watching. The Rays just have not shown up.

The Cowboys Bounce Back in a Statement Win Over the Eagles

Cowboys 38 - 21 Eagles

What happened?

The Cowboys ended a two-game skid while the Eagles extended their miserable run to five straight losses. This game was close until the middle of the 4th when DeMarion Overshown intercepted Tanner McKee to seal the deal for the Cowboys. Saquan hobbled but still looked efficient, but a career day from Javonte Williams was the headline. 155 yards and a touchdown fueled the Cowboys to an important divisional win as they get ready to start their takeover of the NFC East.

Can anyone catch the Giants?

Right now, the Giants are 4-2-1 and have a 1.5-game advantage over the Cowboys. The Giants don’t have nearly as much offensive talent as Dallas, yet their defense has been much better, and although the Giants are stricken by injuries, their schedule pales in comparison to Dallas’s. I think if the Cowboys can get hot, the Giants are in trouble, but this division could go either way if both teams stay competitive.
