Brewers take down the Rays in Game 5 to become World Series Champions.
Brewers 4 - 1 Rays. Highlights
What happened?
Brewers fans, it’s time to celebrate. For the first time in your franchise’s history, you are world champions. Domination was apparent throughout this series with only one hiccup in Game 4, but in Game 5 they closed the casket on the Rays. Jacob Misiriowski led the way on the pitching side, and World Series MVP Wilson Contreras took charge on the offensive side. Many predicted this to be a very boring World Series, but in reality it was electric in every game. The low scoring in the games shouldn’t deceive you; the pitching was a joy to watch, and the talent was obvious.
Congrats to the Milwaukee Brewers!
How did they get to the top of the mountain?
Milwaukee spent years being a non-factor. Small market, small budget, easy to ignore. They didn’t sign big names or make headlines in the offseason. They just drafted well, developed pitchers nobody had heard of, and ground out winning seasons while everyone looked the other way. It was boring to watch from the outside. Inside that clubhouse, they were building something. This World Series was the result. This proves that any small market team without a huge budget or flashy players can win. Just look at the Brewers might be a new phrase.
Looking ahead:
Now that the Brewers have won, everyone is already looking ahead to next season. Let’s review the favorites for the 2027 World Series. On one hand, you’ve got one of the most talented squads in MLB history. 2 championships in the last 3 years and All-Stars at every position. On the other hand, you’ve got the reigning champion, the Milwaukee Brewers: small market, small budget, elite development, and amazing talent. There are also teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, and Braves that have to be mentioned. So many good teams, yet only one winner. This season is going to be a good one.
Daily Recap
NBA
Heat 129 - 117 Hawks. Highlights
The Heat finally pick up their first win of the season against the Hawks. Giannis led the way with 24 points and 18 rebounds, but it needed a team effort to put something in the win column for Miami.
Wizards 111 - 121 Cavaliers. Highlights
Although the Wizards lost, the main talking point is AJ Dybanta’s debut. He dropped 19 points while shooting 8-for-12 and led the scoring for the Wizards. The Wizards’ number one overall pick is making waves already.
Hornets 89 - 97 Pistons. Highlights
Remember the ‘Beef’ between these teams from last season. Well, the Pistons take the lead in this season’s version. Cade led the way with 30 to give Detroit another win.
76ers 114 - 109 Pacers. Highlights
The 76ers super team keeps on winning games as they get another win to put them at 4-1 on the season. The Knicks are next, which should be a fun one.
Raptors 129 - 99 Magic. Highlights
The Raptors beat the Magic in a 30-point rout led by Scottie Barnes and RJ Barrett to open a two-game set. No Kawhi, no problem for Toronto.
Knicks 133 - 127 Bulls. Highlights
After starting the season 0-3, the Knicks have won their last two. Brunson had 38 points, and Kolek made an impact off the bench, dishing out 9 assists.
Bucks 100 - 132 Rockets. Highlights
The Rockets STILL remain undefeated this season with a huge win against the Bucks. Was Fred VanVleet really the difference-maker the Rockets needed? He led the way with 24 points and hasn’t missed a beat after his ACL tear last season.
Warriors 119 - 114 Timberwolves. Highlights
Timberwolves continue to struggle without Anthony Edwards, losing their 2nd of the season. Curry led the way for the Warriors, dropping 44 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. He’s still doing it at 38 years old.
Pelicans 91 - 104 Nuggets. Highlights
Jokic becomes only the second ever player to reach 200 triple-doubles in the Nuggets win. He looks like he is coming to snatch the triple-double title off Westbrook soon, especially after his recent retirement.
Jazz 111 - 117 Spurs after OT. Highlights
The Spurs struggled against a weaker Jazz team but eventually pulled through to get another win. Wemby tacked on 36 points and 14 rebounds to fuel the Spurs to another dub.
Mavericks 120 - 96 Thunder. Highlights
Injuries seem to have caught up to OKC with a huge upset loss to the Mavericks. Cooper Flagg led the way with 26 points to give the Mavs a well-deserved win over a great team.
Lakers 103 - 87 Clippers. Highlights
Lakers get another win over the Clippers as the Lakers keep on rolling without Luka. Quentin Grimes played a crucial part in this one, getting 23 points and 4 steals as he begins to flourish in his new role in LA.
Carolina faces Green Bay in TNF Clash.
After getting destroyed by the Buccaneers last week, the Panthers are desperate for a win at Lambeau. They came into last week as the favorites to win their division, but it seems the Falcons have leapfrogged them. Bryce Young is playing well, but the Panthers just need to put it all together.
On the other hand, the Packers go into Lambeau in last place in one of the best divisions in football. The Packers need a win if they want to stay close to the Lions and catch up to the Vikings and Bears.
My Prediction: Packers win
