The NBA and NFL are both up and running, with crazy results flying left and right. The 49ers and Chiefs get their first loss, the Dolphins get their first win, and much more happened on Sunday. The NBA was crazy as well. The Knicks start the season 0-3, the 76ers get their first loss of the superteam era, and the Timberwolves keep on rolling.

NFL Game of the Day - Seattle Upset the Chiefs at Home

Seahwaks 20 - 3 Chiefs

The Storyline:

The Seahawks went into playoff mode tonight. 2 losses in a row against winnable teams must’ve upset Mike MacDonald because they had no mercy against a solid Kansas City team. JSN went off for 150 yards and a touchdown, and Sam Darnold threw for 257 yards and a touchdown. The real story was the defense for Seattle. Conceding only 3 points against one of the best offenses in the league while holding superstar Kenneth Walker to only 36 yards on only 2.5 yards per carry shows how elite this Seahawks defense really is. People are forgetting just how good this Seahawks team is and they reminded everyone why they are the reigning champions last night.

Biggest Overreaction:

“The Chiefs season is over”

Just to be clear, the Chiefs’ season is not over. They are one of the better teams in a wide-open AFC, with abundant quality on both sides of the ball. Today they played against an amazing team at their absolute best, and Harrison Butker just couldn’t get a field goal to fall. They’ll bounce back even stronger than before.

Numbers Don’t Lie:

  • JSN: 150 yards and a touchdown; He is still a top 4 receiver in the league.

  • Kenneth Walker III: 36 rushing yards on 2.5 yards per carry; This doesn’t mean he's bad; it just means the Seahawks are too good on the defensive side of the ball.

  • Patrick Mahomes: 165 passing yards and an interception; Same reason as Kenneth.

  • Emanuel Wilson: 100 yards and a touchdown; High usage to fill the hole Kenneth Walker left.

Other Big NFL Moments from Sunday

Giants upset the Texans to gain control of the NFC East

Giants 27 - 21 Texans

The Giants went into Reliant Stadium as double-digit underdogs. The Texans were coming off a big win against the Jags in London, and they had to have felt good coming into it. The Giants, on the other hand, were stricken by injuries and had tied and lost their last two. The odds made sense. But the Giants prevailed as their running back room woke up and made clutch play after clutch play. Cam Skattebo led the charge with 124 yards and a touchdown, as well as a 42-yard beast mode to secure the game in overtime. Devin Singletary paired that with his 41 yards and a touchdown, while Tracy added a touchdown of his own. The J.J. McCarthy era in New York has started 1-0, and the future looks bright for the G-Men.

Lions beat the Packers in NFC North Showdown

Packers 17 - 20 Lions

The Lions and Packers both went into this game as the bottom teams in a stacked NFC North. Both had a winning record but sat behind the electric 5-2 Bears and the consistent 6-0 Vikings. They both needed a win to keep themselves in the race for the division. Gibbs had 116 yards while Amon-Ra St. Brown added 153 yards of his own, and Jake Bates knocked in a field goal to give Detroit a very important win on the road.

Falcons get their first home win of the season, while handing the 49ers their first loss

Falcons 29 - 20 49ers

The 49ers were 6-0 and, although hit by many injuries, were still considered by many the best team in the NFL. The Falcons, on the other hand, went into this as an inconsistent, mediocre team. You can probably guess who the favorite was. Despite that, Michael Penix threw 3 touchdown passes, and their defense forced 4 turnovers to give the 49ers their first loss of the season.
